Phil and the Shouters Rock The House!
Broadway Phil and the Shouters cruise into their second decade
with a century of collective musical experience, gained from
countless club dates as well as stints with Huey Lewis, Paul
deLay, Little Charlie and the Night Kats, Coco Montoya, Curtis
Salgado, Roomful of Blues, Roy Rogers and others. With the Shouters'
"Industrial-Strength" approach, Blues and roots take
on a different tone and meaning. A thumping shuffle or slow
lament take twists and turns of phrasing and delivery to become
something rare in modern blues and R&B: something new. It
is this craft - with both lyrics and music, originals and interpretations
- that is the hallmark of the Shouter ensemble. They have taken
their howling groove from their Southern Oregon base to clubs
and concerts from Maui to Memphis, and their original music
has been played on radio stations from San Francisco to Prague.
Broadway Phil and the Shouters' new CD, "Rhythm and Dues,"
has received excellent regional acclaim and much radio play
in the Northwest and California. It is available on Amazon.com,
in selected stores and at Shouter concerts. The Shouters' debut
CD, "Rock Bottom," has sold out and is only available
in cassette.
I've been playing these
blues for a long, long time
And I ain't too old to jump
I've seen the Apostles of rhythm and rhyme
Holding church in a downtown dump.*

Broadway Phil's harmonica
and vocals are backed by the house-rockin' Shouters: Gary Davis,
Bass, Rob Gunderson, guitar, and the original Shouter, Dave
Mathieu, on drums. Their
howling groove will make you dance, shout, shake off the blues
and fall in love with Saturday night all over again. |
